On April 17, 1979, CFCW Limited, proprietor of CFCW in Camrose, got endorsement to work another FM station in Edmonton. On January 13, 1995, the station received the name “Blend 96”, and moved to a hot grown-up contemporary organization.

Following the progress of Power 92 to the hot AC designed “Power 92.5” in June 2003, the station moved to CHR and embraced the motto “Edmonton’s Only Hit Music Station”, which (after Power 92 changed to grown-up hits) changed to “Edmonton’s #1 Hit Music Station”.

On March 28, 2008, at 3 PM, CKRA changed organizations once more, this time moving from nation to great hits as “96.3 Capital FM”. The last melody on “Enormous Earl” was “Farewell Earl” by the Dixie Chicks.
